Australian Racing: Alberich to star at Rosehill

There’s metropolitan action from Rosehill and Sunshine Coast on Wednesday supplemented with provincial meetings at Geraldton and Strathalbyn plus a country meeting at Cranbourne.

Alberich for Rosehill success

The penultimate race on Rosehill’s seven race card is an interesting Benchmark 72 contest over 1400m with the four-year-old Stray expected to have her supporters following a good length fourth in a Benchmark 78 event on a soft 7 track over this distance at Randwick when racing first up earlier this month.

Competed at a higher level as a three-year-old including in Group 1 company with a fair fourth in the Group 3 Ranvet Aspiration Quality over 1600m at Randwick in March her best effort last spell.

Rail draw here is a positive but preference is for the unexposed three-year-old Alberich who tackles his elders here on just his third career start having debuted with a two length triumph in a maiden event over 1250m at Canterbury in June.

Followed up with a close up second in the Furphy Handicap over this course and distance the following month.

Notably both of those efforts came on heavy tracks but the son of Snitzel should have no issues with the quicker ground here with the booking of top hoop Hugh Bowman for Chris Waller’s charge a further positive for the gelding who has raced close to the speed on both previous starts.

Daulat to triumph at Sunshine Coast

Chris Waller looks to hold strong claims with his Pool Pony in the fifth at Sunshine Coast, a 1600m Benchmark 68 event.

The Shalaa gelding delivered a good third place finish over 1845m in a Benchmark 70 event at Eagle Farm at the start of last month when last in action.

Freshened up since he has won at this track in the past but may have to give best to another course winner in Daulat Tai Panaziz who is trained by John Holcombe.

The six-year-old took a step forward when finishing a close third in a Class 3 event over 1640m on a good 4 track at Doomben earlier this month.

Had previously suffered a couple of heavy defeats at Eagle Farm at Eagle Farm and having run well in a Benchmark 72 affair on the synthetic track here in July Jasmine Cornish’s mount is selected to register a fourth career win.

Sessions to upset Grace

Real Grace looks likely to jump at short odds ahead of the final race on the Geraldton card, a Benchmark 58+ contest over 1113m.

The five-year-old is improving with racing this spell delivering her best effort in three starts when finishing third in a 1400m event at Belmont Park earlier this month.

Switch to a good 4 track having raced on soft going at that venue prior appeared to be no issue that day but the daughter of I Am Invincible may have to play second fiddle to Three Sessions.

Three Sessions has to concede weight to his main rival here but showed good form when winning in this grade over 1100m here at the start of January.

Only appearance since came when a disappointing sixth in a Benchmark 70+ event over 1200m in April but Barry Newnham’s charge has won first up in the past and having shown a liking for the course and distance in the past is taken to maintain his unbeaten record over this distance.
