Western United boss John Aloisi says anything can happen in the race for the premiers plate and has urged his players to stay focused on the job in hand.
Western are priced at 10/1 to win the minor premiership but it is completely out of their own hands. They remain two points behind leaders Melbourne City with two games to play.
Melbourne face bottom of the ladder Perth Glory on Wednesday night and only a huge upset would prevent them from taking all three points.
Western face Newcastle away from home and simply have to win to keep themselves in the hunt. They may be huge underdogs but Aloisi says anything can happen.

"We know that there's always twists and turns at the end of the season," he said. "So all you can do is focus on what you're doing and try and get the results you need and then the other results you can't control, but stranger things have happened.
"It's just about focusing on us and making sure that we're prepared for the two games and especially this one tomorrow night, because it's the first one, and making sure that we perform at our best. That's all we can ask for."
Following a disappointing defeat against Central Coast at the weekend, Western have stayed in NSW ahead of the Newcastle game, and Aloisi says the time together will have done the players good.
"Especially after a result that we didn't want, it was good that the group was together and to pick each other up pretty quickly,” he added. "That can only happen when you're in a hub environment."
