Connections of Ayrton are hoping that a firmer surface at Eagle Farm next weekend will bring out the best in the four-year-old in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.
The Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr-trained son of Iffraaj disappointed at his last start when finishing a well beaten eighth behind Zaaki in last month's Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast.
Jamie Kah, who was on board the time before when the pair struck in the Group 3 Victoria Handicap, will be reunited with the 9/2 chance.
Rob Norton of owners Roll the Dice Racing said a return to sprinting and a dry track will ensure punters see a different horse in Queensland’s premier sprint.
"On that day (Hollindale Stakes) he just didn't handle the wet track at all, so we decided to change plans and head towards the Stradbroke," Norton told Racing.com.
"It will definitely be dry, we might not need the beanies, we might leave the beanies and have the board shorts, so it should be fun," Norton said.
"He's really good. He trialled (last Tuesday) at the Sunshine Coast, he finished second, that's the first piece of work he's had since the Hollindale Stakes."

Twice a winner in Group 3 company, Ayrton will be looking to break through in his first crack at the elite level when he will have plenty of support to cheer him on.
"There's going to be a lot of people go up on Thursday, everyone's thrilled to have a runner in a Group 1 and we're thrilled to have him in it," Norton added.
