The Newcastle Knights have confirmed Bradman Best is looking at up to six weeks on the sidelines after suffering a dislocated elbow.
Newcastle are priced at 10/1 to make the top eight of the NRL in the 2022 campaign but their cause is not being helped by a number of injuries to key players.
Best picked up the injury during last week’s defeat against the Broncos and although he has avoided a fracture, he is still looking at a decent spell on the sidelines.
The Knights head physio Craig Catterick says the player suffered a ligament rupture and they need to reduce the swelling first of all.

Storm wait on Grant injury news
"It was quite a horrific injury for Bradman," Catterick told the club’s website. "A dislocation of the elbow. The scans show he has a ligament rupture there, and he is looking at about four to six weeks for recovery.
"The arm is still quite swollen this morning, but we are doing everything we can to get that down as quickly as possible."
There is some good news coming from the treatment room with both Kurt Mann and Hymel Hunt making good progress ahead of a return to action in round 14.
"Kurt's tracking okay. He had an ultrasound on the stent that was put into the artery this morning. We are just waiting for the results to come through," Catterick added. "The radiologist and doctor will speak later today, and hopefully have him back by Round 14 is the game plan.
"Hymel is another one tracking for Round 14 at this stage."
