The Brisbane Broncos continued to show great signs of improvement as they thrashed the Manly Sea Eagles 38-0 on Friday night.
Brisbane are pushing to make the top eight this season and return to finals and they remain well on course to achieve that goal.
Brisbane have now won six games this season and have come a long way in the space of 12 months. A year ago they suffered a 50-6 loss against Manly. Their biggest ever loss to the Sea Eagles.
The addition of Adam Reynolds has proven to be a masterstroke from Kevin Walters, who saluted his players after the win.
"The nil scoreline was really pleasing and I think that's the best start to a game I've had here," Walters said. "We hadn't been able to finish our sets off the way we would have like to over the last few years.
"He (Reynolds) is one of the best kickers in the game and that's really helped us with our defence and you see his influence in where we turn the ball over."
Meanwhile Manly coach Des Hasler played down concerns over the fitness of Tom Trbojevic who played with a heavily strapped knee and is struggling to reach his best. But Hasler refused to use that as an excuse for his side’s performance.
"He (Tom Trbojevic) is getting back and he's obviously still not quite there," Hasler told reporters. "He won't use that as an excuse, we were just off tonight. He hasn't (aggravated his injury) at all. I can categorically say he is OK."
