NRL: Capewell out to stop Panthers

Brisbane Broncos recruit Kurt Capewell says his new side will have to take their game to another level when they face his former club the Penrith Panthers.

The Broncos are priced at 15/2 to cause an upset against the Panthers on Friday and Capewell is well aware of the task that faces Brisbane.

Best in the world

Capewell won the premiership with Penrith last season before making the switch to the Broncos at the end of the campaign.

If anything Penrith are looking even stronger than last year as they have kicked off the new campaign with five wins on the bounce.

Capewell believes the Panthers are the best rugby league side in the world but says he joined the Broncos because he wants to take them there too.

"I'm not scared of a challenge; this club is a great club with so much history," Capewell said of his decision to join Brisbane.

"You see the athletes here, the players we've got; I was looking forward to the challenge of (getting) them playing their best footy and turning it around. And they're (Penrith) the world's best team at the moment.

"If we want to compete with them we'll have to put it all together."

Cleary threat

The toughest job could be stop Nathan Cleary and Capewell has given an indication as to how the Broncos might go about that.

"He's a tough, tough player to shut down," he added. "Great kicking game, so you try get in a grind with them, get that back and forth and have them playing out of their own end where they're least dangerous."
