Carlton have confirmed Zac Williams is looking at up to three months on the sidelines after scans confirmed he has suffered a serious calf injury.
The Blues are priced at 21/50 to make finals this season and now the race is on for Williams to be involved should they get there.
There were fears that Williams had suffered yet another serious Achilles injury during the win over Greater Western Sydney at the weekend. He missed most of the 2018 campaign with such an injury.
Thankfully that is not the case, however it is still not great news for the player and the club. Scans showed he has suffered a high-grade calf strain that will keep him out of action for up to three months.

The injury blow is yet another setback for Carlton who are missing a number of key players through injury. Mitch McGovern and Marc Pittonet are among the players currently on the sidelines.
"We took the time to get Zac back to Melbourne and get a scan today to assess the injury fully, which unfortunately has confirmed he will be out of the side for an extended period," Blues footy boss Brad Lloyd said.
"Zac is understandably disappointed given the work he’s done to get himself playing good football and performing an important role as part of our back six.
"We’ve had a number of personnel changes over the opening nine rounds but to the players’ credit they have adapted and there will be another opportunity for someone to step up and take their chance at senior level."
