Aussie Rules: Carlton wait on injured duo

Carlton are sweating on the fitness of Harry McKay and Marc Pittonet after they both picked up issues during the 35-point loss to Fremantle on Saturday night.

Carlton are out to finish in the top eight and will now be hoping for good news regarding the duo as they look to get their season back on track following the loss.

Anxious wait

Pittonet had to leave the field never to return in the first quarter after suffering from a clash of knees. There are fears he may have suffered a PCL injury but further investigation is needed.

McKay was also struggling with a knee complaint, but at least he was able to soldier on throughout the game.

"McKay had a grumble," coach Michael Voss told reporters after the game. "We'll have a look at that. I am not sure what that actually is.

"It was certainly affecting some of his movement tonight and his ability to get up and down the ground. He got through and hope whatever is affecting him is quite minor.

"We'll get (Pittonet) assessed on Monday, but we feel it's a significant corkie at this stage. We tried to get him going but he just wasn't able to run.

"It's on the front of his knee, so he wasn't able to get going. Really hoping we have dodged further damage there."

Fremantle praise

Meanwhile Voss had plenty of praise for the Dockers who sit 5-1 for the season to sit second on the AFL ladder with 20 points.

"We couldn't quite get flow in our game across the night," Voss added. "Couldn't get the ball in good enough positions on the field often enough.

"Credit to Freo's pressure around the ball. Their ability to keep the ball in their half was a real strength of theirs. It challenged us for most of the night.”
