Adelaide United have secured the future of talented forward Zach Clough who has penned a two-year contract extension with the club.
Clough arrived in South Australia in February this year and made 13 appearances as the Reds went all the way to the A-League semi-finals before losing to Melbourne City.
The 27-year-old showed his talent when scoring a superb goal against City in the second leg and will be hoping to show much more over the next two years. Clough has penned a deal that will run until the end of the 2023/24 A-League campaign.
Clough, whose former clubs include Bolton Wanderers and Nottingham Forest, believes the future is bright at Adelaide and is excited to see what it brings.
Hrustic the hero for Socceroos
“I’m very happy to have signed a new contract with Adelaide United, knowing I’ll remain a Red for the next two years,” he told the club’s website. “From the moment I arrived in Adelaide, I’ve felt welcomed and at home within the squad and the city.
“The project we’re building with Carl (Veart) is very promising and something I’m excited to be a part of.
“I know the rest of the boys and I were all gutted to have missed out on making the Grand Final last season, but I’m confident that disappointment will fuel our desire to go further next season.”
Meanwhile coach Carl Veart says there is even more to come from Clough and he is delighted to get the deal done.
“To have secured Zach for the next two seasons is fantastic for our squad and I’m very confident that, after a strong pre-season, he can continue to flourish and provide us with a real offensive threat,” he added.
