NHL - US Sports: Comrie has belief in Jets

Netminder Eric Comrie believes a 5-3 win over the Arizona Coyotes will be a catalyst for the Winnipeg Jets to make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Jets, 90/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, had 27 saves from 26-year-old Comrie to snap a 0-3-1 skid.

Turbulent season so far

For Comrie is was just his first start since 29th January, but he has recorded wins in each of his last three games.

After a franchise best start (9-3-3) it's since been a turbulent season for the Jets who lost long-time head coach Paul Maurice on 17th December with the 55-year-old handing in his resignation after nine seasons in charge.

However, under interim Dave Lowry who was promoted from the assistant position, the Jets have managed to cling on to hopes of a playoff position.

With a 23-21-9 record and 55 points, they sit sixth in the Central Division and have their eyes set on gaining a Wild Card spot.

In his first season with Winnipeg, Comrie has started a career high nine games this season with six wins, a .914 save-percentage and 2.47 goals-against-average (GAA).

Get on a roll

The Jets's number one, Connor Hellebuyck has carried the majority of the lead starting 43 times with 17 wins, a .912 save-percentage and 2.88 GAA.

Comrie said to the media following the win over the Coyotes: "I just hope to get on a roll, that's a big win. I think we're playing fine. I think we're right there.

"We're just not quite getting the results...but I think we're going to start to find some more results here, and some more success."
