The Dallas Stars beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-3 to record a seventh victory in nine games and coach Rick Bowness praised the development of his team.
Dallas, 45/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, needed an overtime goal from 22-year-old Jason Robertson to defeat the Jets on Friday.
For Robertson, it was a sixth game-winning-goal in 37 games this season which is tied for third-most in the NHL.
In his second full NHL season, Robertson leads the Stars with 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists). In his last 18 games, the dynamic winger has amassed 24 points (11 goals, 13 assists).

Before the win over the Jets, the Stars returned from the All-Star break with a 4-3 victory over the Nashville Predators to start a run of eight straight conference games which will prove crucial as they look to move up from fifth place in the Central Division (25-18-2).
The 67-year-old Bowness is in his third season as head coach of the Stars. After being promoted from assistant in December 2019, he led the franchise to the Stanley Cup Final where they were beaten by his former team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, over six games.
Last season, they missed the playoffs with a 23-19-14 record.
Bowness said to the media after the Jets victory: "We've come a long way from where we were at the start of the year. We didn't handle [adversity] well early, and we're handling all those situations much better now.
"A little more confidence in the group that we can come back, a little more confidence in the group that we can hang on to a lead. It's steps along the way."
