Steve Corica was left to lament a host of missed chances as his Sydney FC side slipped a 1-0 win defeat against ladder-leaders Western United.
Sydney are priced at 14/1 to win the A-League minor premiership and speaking to reporters after the game Corica admitted it was a game they really needed to win.
They had enough chances in the first half to do so but could not take any of them and Western made them pay by bagging the only goal of the game in the 67th minute.
The Sky Blues dominated the first half with 63 percent of the possession, had 13 shots on goal compared to Western's four and also forced 11 corners.

But Corica was quick to point out after the game that all those statistics count for nothing if you fail to put the ball in the back of the net.
"The first half was excellent, we created some chances but were unable to score which was disappointing," Corica told reporters after the game. "And the second half we looked very flat. We didn't get up to the ball, we allowed them space. They took their chance nicely.
"It's disappointing because that was a game we needed to win. A bit frustrating, especially after creating a lot of chances in the first half. You can only win games if you score goals."
Elvis Kamsoba and Bobo were the biggest culprits when squandering good chances at 0-0 while Western United goalkeeper Jamie Young pulled off a great save to deny Anthony Caceres from close range.
