NRL: Cotric catches eye of Fittler

Canberra Raiders winger Nick Cotric is catching the eye of New South Wales coach Brad Fittler with the 2022 State of Origin series fast approaching.

The Blues are out to defend their crown after winning last year’s series against Queensland 2-1 and Fittler has a number of selection headaches.

Cotric in form

The Raiders are having a tough season as they struggle towards the wrong end of the NRL ladder, but Cotric has been one bright spark for Ricky Stuart’s side.

And that form has not gone unnoticed with Fittler impressed with how the former Bulldog has got his career back on track. He made his representative debut back in 2019 but injuries have hampered him since then.

"I love watching Nick play. I think his form has been good," Fittler told The Canberra Times. "He runs a lot, he's hard to tackle and makes tackle breaks, and he's doing a lot of it out of his own end."

Cotric keeping focused

It goes without saying that Cotric would face a huge battle to make Fittler’s side. And for now he is focused on getting back to his very best for the Raiders.

"Playing that 2019 series, my first Origin game, it's something that I want to be back to play. That was a great experience and I'd love to be back there,” he said.

"I've got to find my rhythm again and I'm slowly getting it back. I'm just focusing on getting my role for the team right and getting my hands on the ball as much as I can."
