North Queensland Cowboys have been handed a huge boost with the news starlet Jeremiah Nanai has penned a new one-year contract extension with the club.
The Cowboys are priced at 3/1 to finish in the top eight of the NRL and play finals and the news that Nanai has signed will give them a big lift.
It looked as though the Cowboys would face a big battle to keep hold of Nanai after his agent confirmed a number of rival clubs wanted to lure him away.
The 19-year-old has only played in eight NRL games but has shown he has the potential to be a star of the future.

The forward scored a hat-trick in the recent derby win over the Broncos and the Cowboys are delighted to have him locked in until at least the end of the 2023 NRL campaign.
Wests Tigers and Newcastle were among the clubs known to be interested but they will be left empty handed for now.
“We are over the moon to be able to announce the extension of Jeremiah’s contract,” Cowboys General Manager of Football Micheal Luck said.
“As we’ve seen in the first eight games of his career, he is one of the most exciting talents in rugby league.
“We are thrilled to finalise the extension, which allows Jeremiah to concentrate solely on what is his first full season in the NRL and we will pick up long-term contract discussions later in the year.”
