Aussie Rules: Cox ruled out for Pies

Collingwood coach Craig McRae has to decide who will replace Mason Cox against Adelaide on Saturday after the American was ruled out with an ankle injury.

The Magpies are priced at 1/3 to beat the Crows at the MCG but there will be no Cox in the side after he picked up a knock in round one.

McRae dilemma

The injury to Cox is nothing serious but it is enough to keep him out against Adelaide and McRae has to make the call over who will replace him.

Fellow tall forwards Darcy Cameron and Nathan Kreuger are in the running to come in to the side as Collingwood look to make it two wins from two.

"Unfortunately Mason is not going to play. He's pulled up a little bit sore from the work hid do [in round one], so he's unavailable in the short term," McRae told reporters.

"And then it's a question of who we bring in, whether it's Kreuger or Cameron or another type ... we will make that decision in match committee this afternoon."

No fluke

Meanwhile McRae is also urging his players to prove the 17-point win over St Kilda in round one was no fluke.

"It's a hard competition and the bottom line is we have got to be able to embrace every contest that comes, wherever we play and whoever we play," McRae said.

"Now, we had a good (opening) performance but you have got to back that up. We have got to repeat those behaviours. At the moment it's not a pattern of behaviour. At the moment it's just a performance that we were pretty happy with."
