Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett believes they are heading in the right direction as they attempt to secure a deal for Melbourne Storm playmaker Cameron Munster.
The Storm are priced at 5/2 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and Munster is looking in scintillating form after returning for the new season fitter than ever before.
The Dolphins are in desperate need of a marquee signing for when they enter the NRL for the start of the 2023 campaign after missing out on a number of big names.
Munster is under contract with the Storm for the 2023 season but would be able to accept an offer for 2024 from 1st November of this year.

Melbourne have ruled out the possibility of Munster leaving early and they also hope he will decide to sign a new deal with them.
However the contract would be on reduced terms and could open the door for the Dolphins to swoop in and land the Queensland State of Origin ace.
It remains to be seen what will happen but Bennett says the Dolphins are doing all they can to lure Munster to the club.
"A lot of that [contract talk] is speculation, but we're keen to have Cameron at Redcliffe, whether it's in 2023 or 2024," Bennett told 9news Queenland. “We're working there with his management.
"I'm not overly confident, but I'm not underly confident. There's a fair bit to be done, but we feel we're heading in the right direction in regards to our end of the bargain. Hopefully Cameron will want to come."
