NFL - US Sports: Draft-day trade to Eagles 'not my fault' says Brown

A.J. Brown is the latest to leap up the earnings ladder after the Philadelphia Eagles reportedly agreed to a four-year extension worth $100million with $57million guaranteed following their acquisition of the star via a draft day trade with the Tennessee Titans.

The Eagles, who are 28/1 to win the Super Bowl, gave up the No. 18 and 101 picks to bring Brown to the City of Brotherly Love - a commodity that appears to have been in short supply in the wide receiver's last few weeks in Nashville.

Brown leaves Tennessee under a cloud

In a since-deleted tweet, Brown said farewell to Titans fans and stated that the trade wasn't his fault.

"Tennessee I love you and you will forever be in my heart and I can say this now," the 24-year-old wrote. "THIS WAS NOT MY FAULT. But I wish you all the best. Love"

Robinson coy on departure reasons

Titans general manager Jon Robinson had been playing his cards close to his chest amid apparent unrest that anyone following Brown's social media posts could see festering.

A week after Robinson told reporters he didn't "foresee" trading the player he was shipped to Philadelphia and a replacement drafted in Arkansas receiver Treylon Burks.

"We got to a spot where it was going to be hard to get a deal done [with Brown]," Robinson explained on Thursday night, via the team website's Jim Wyatt.

Brown hauled in 185 catches for 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns during his three seasons as a Titan, putting him in a strong bargaining position as he entered the final year of his rookie contract in the wake of the huge deals that contemporaries like Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill had garnered from new teams after earlier offseason trades.
