Former Fremantle Dockers forward Hugh Dixon has earned another crack at the AFL by signing a rookie contract with West Coast Eagles.
The 23-year-old impressed during a practice game against his former side last season and has been drafted in by the Eagles due to a crippling injury list, which was added to when defender Brad Sheppard was forced to retire.
Dixon has made just a single AFL appearance to date, but came back on to the radar with some strong performances for East Fremantle last season - with the Eagles 7/4 to secure a top-eight finish this season.
Head coach Adam Simpson expects Dixon to feature in Sunday's AAMI Community Series game with the Dockers and he is also in contention to be included for the season-opener against Gold Coast Suns.

National recruiting and list manager Rohan O'Brien told the Eagles website: "We have been impressed with Hugh's approach to winning a place on our list and he could not have done any more to convince us that he deserves this chance.
"He was among our best in the practice game last Friday night and we think he has a lot to offer. He turned 23 last week, has been in the system previously and understands the demands at the elite level."
"He has settled in nicely and certainly the other players were rapt for him when they were told he would be added to our squad."
The Eagles currently have Oscar Allen, Tom Cole, Jamie Cripps, Dom Sheed, Luke Shuey, Elliot Yeo and Campbell Chesser all out of action, as they prepare to try and improve on missing out on the Finals Series last season.
