Dylan Edwards is expecting his former Penrith teammates Matt Burton, Tevita Pangai and Brent Naden to be fired up when the Panthers face the Bulldogs on Sunday.
The Panthers are priced at 11/4 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and have kicked off the campaign in fine form with four wins on the spin.
Burton, Pangai and Naden were all on board with the Panthers last season and played their role as they went on to win the premiership before moving on to the Bulldogs.
They will meet for the first time this weekend and Edwards knows what to expect. Canterbury are 1-3 but have a far better side on paper this season and the former Panthers players are part of it.

"They'll definitely be up for it, playing against their old side," Edwards told reporters on Tuesday. "You know what they like to do and what they don't, but they know the same about us. I'm sure 'Burto' and 'Nado' will be talking heaps."
Much better things were expected of the Bulldogs this season but they have just the one win from the opening four rounds.
Not only that they were pumped 44-0 by the Melbourne Storm at the weekend. Even so Edwards felt that scoreline flattered the Storm and the Bulldogs were better than that.
"The scoreline on the weekend probably doesn't reflect my opinion of the game," Edwards added. "There was a couple of tries against the run of play and physically they were really good early on, but the Storm just capitalised on a couple of mistakes and kicked away.
"I've been impressed with their month of footy."
