The championship title has proven elusive for James Harden so far in his career

NBA: Embiid ignoring Harden rumours

Joel Embiid isn't interested in the speculation linking James Harden with a move to Philadelphia and feels the current Sixers squad is good enough to win the championship.

Philadelphia 76ers are 13/1 to win the NBA Championship outright, while Harden's current team Brooklyn Nets can be backed at 15/4.

Rumours best ignored

The trade deadline is fast approaching and there has been speculation Harden could make the move to Philadelphia as part of a deal that would see Sixers outcast Simmons join the Nets.

"He [Harden] plays for the Brooklyn Nets, and there's nothing I can do about that," said Embiid during an appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic in Philadelphia, via CBS Sports.

"That's like you asking me a question like, would you love playing with Steph Curry? Obviously, the top players all make each other better, and he's in that category of just being able to — and he's gotten close before.

"He's gotten to the conference finals, he's gotten close to making it to the Finals. But that's something I really can't comment about because he plays for another team, and it's not realistic.

"We all see the same thing on the internet, and I don't know what's true and what's not."

Sixers need perfection now

Simmons hasn't featured for Philadelphia this season after requesting a trade during the offseason.

The Sixers initially struggled without the guard in their line-up but have hit form and now sit in fifth place in the Eastern Conference with a 32-21 record, just two games behind Miami Heat in top spot, ahead of the visit of Phoenix Suns on Tuesday.

Embiid accepts the Sixers will need to be close to perfect in the playoffs if they are to go all the way this year but he insists they can win the championship regardless of whether or not they are able to add to their roster before the trade deadline on Thursday.

He added: "I do believe with the guys we have, my teammates, I do believe that we have a chance together.

"It's going to take all of us to play at the highest level possible to compete... I can't comment on a player from another team, but who's not a fan of, you know, Kevin Durant or Steph Curry or James Harden? They're all top players in this league.

"I love watching them, I enjoy their game and what they've been able to do in their careers."
