Canberra Raiders have suffered a huge blow just before the start of the season, with new signing Jamal Fogarty sustaining a serious knee injury.
The 28-year-old was something of a revelation with Gold Coast Titans last season, being a major factor in them reaching the Finals for the first time in a decade - with the Titans 21/20 to secure a top-eight spot in the coming campaign.
However, having opted to link up with the Raiders, Fogarty is now set to miss at least the first half of the 2022 NRL season.
A statement from the capital franchise read: "Jamal Fogarty will miss the start of the 2022 season after scans revealed an injury to his knee following last week's trial against the Sea Eagles.
"The injury will most likely require surgery and comes with a recovery time of around four months."

The exact severity of the injury has yet to be confirmed, but some reports have suggested that Fogarty could be looking at longer than four months out of action.
A tweet from the account of NRLPhysio said: "Scans revealed a knee injury suffered by Jamal Fogarty will likely require surgery and four month recovery - four months a less commonly seen timeframe."
Fogarty made 41 NRL appearances in total for the Titans, scoring seven tries, as well as kicking 71 goals.
Last term Gold Coast made the Finals series, only to be edged out 25-24 by Sydney Roosters in their Elimination final.
