St George Illawarra coach Anthony Griffin believes a strong and experienced forward pack will be key to the Dragon's chances of climbing the NRL ladder this season.
The Dragons are priced at 50/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final but breaking into the top eight and playing finals would be seen as a big success for the club this season.
Griffin is heading into his second season as coach of the Dragons and it is seen by many as a make-or-break campaign for him.
He quickly identified a weakness in his forward pack and has tried to rectify the situation by bringing in Aaron Woods, Francis Molo, Jack Gosiewski and George Burgess during the off-season.

After blooding some talented youngsters in the second half of the 2021 season Griffin believes he has a good blend of youth and experience and is looking forward to the season ahead.
"It gives us a stronger pack on paper," Griffin told AAP. "In the end it's about what we do when we get to play though.
"The other guys are going really well. (Jack) De Belin's had his first off-season for a long time, so we're hoping that we're going to be a lot stronger in that area."
Meanwhile Griffin also has a nice selection headache at fullback with Cody Ramsey pushing Tyrell Sloan all the way for the No.1 jersey.
Sloan looked a banker for the spot but Ramsey has been impressing and Griffin has praised his attitude in pre-season.
"He's very quick, a great learner, he's worked really hard on his physical preparation," Griffin added. "This off-season he's put on another four or five kilos. He's a really good team man, great club man.
"He's got a share of natural talent but his attitude is impeccable."
