After recording a third straight shut-out victory, Coach Gerard Gallant said he has confidence in the way the New York Rangers are performing defensively.
The Rangers, 14/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, beat the Winnipeg Jets 3-0 on Tuesday to reach 50 wins for the fifth time in their history and move to joint-first in the Metropolitan Division (50-21-6).
Their 106 points equals the Carolina Hurricanes with both having played 77 of their 82 games.
New York last won 50 games in a season in 2014/15, when they set a franchise record of 53.
Number one netminder Igor Shesterkin recorded two of the shutouts (beating Detroit Red Wings 4-0 on Saturday) and deputy Alexandar Georgiev the other (also 4-0 against the Philadelphia Flyers a week ago).
The last time New York had three straight shutout wins was in February 1973.
Shesterkin and Georgiev's shutout streak is currently at 180.06, with the team record being 297.43 set in 1927/28.

26-year-old Shesterkin leads all NHL goalies with a .926 save-percentage and 2.01 goals-against-average (GAA). He has 36 wins in 51 games (50 starts).
Georgiev, also 26, has a .898 save-percentage, 2.91 GAA and 13 wins in 30 games (25 starts).
The Rangers have won six of their last seven games.
Gallant said to the media: "It's not just the last three games, the shutouts, it's been the last number of games we've been playing a lot better defensively.
"It makes you feel more confident as a coach that you're not just winning because of your goaltending."
