Manly ace Reuben Garrick says defence will be key to the Sea Eagles continuing to make progress during the 2022 NRL campaign.
Manly are priced at 3/10 to finish in the top eight of the NRL this season and after losing their opening two games of the season they have bounced back with three wins on the spin.
The news that star fullback Tom Trbojevic is facing a spell out of the side through injury sparked fears they could struggle in the coming weeks.
However Garrick has stepped in to the No.1 jersey and has impressed with his performances. He stood out in the win over Newcastle last weekend and will be looking to shine once again when the Sea Eagles face the Titans on Saturday.

"I think our defence got us off to a good start on the weekend (against the Knights) and it's definitely a platform to work off in coming weeks," Garrick told NRL.com.
"[Fullback] is something I've had to work hard at here at training. When people go down, here at Manly we pride ourselves on stepping up and taking hold of that moment. It's my job I've been entrusted in and hopefully I can do the best job I can for my team."
Meanwhile Sea Eagles teammate Kieran Foran also had praise for Garrick and says he is doing a great job filling in for Trbo at fullback.
"He was really impressive, Rubes," Foran said. "He's filled in there a number of times last season and he's just a really handy option for if Tommy does go down but I thought Rubes was great.
“He did his job and a little bit more. He's a great communicator which is what you need."
