Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin fears that Demons star Tom McDonald is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a serious foot injury.
Melbourne are priced at 7/4 to win the 2022 AFL grand final but their chances of going back-to-back have suffered a setback after losing the last two games.
Goodwin is refusing to panic following the defeats to Fremantle and Sydney but there will be one or two concerns especially now that McDonald is facing a spell out.
The star forward has been missing with ankle soreness. However Goodwin gave an update on Sunday and fears it could now be a Lisfranc issue. If that is the case a longer spell on the sidelines will be needed to get it right.

“It’s looking more like a Lisfranc,” Goodwin told 3AW. "Tom looks like missing a bit of footy and he’ll be sorely missed because he’s a really important player for us."
Following the 12-point defeat against Sydney, which came on the back of the Dockers loss, the Demons now need to bounce back.
They are set to face Collingwood and then second-placed Brisbane in their next two games.
"We had our standard chat, standard review, and it was pretty clear that it's welcome to the AFL season - it's a tough industry," Goodwin said.
"We need to keep finding ways to get better as a footy club, it's a long year, and just at the moment we're not at our best but that doesn't mean it's going to last forever, either.
"We played a good side in the Swans, they played a good brand of footy and full credit to them."
