Glorious Goodwood - Racing: Graeme Rodway's day three tips

The Qatar Nassau Stakes (3.35) is the feature on day three at Goodwood. Here Racing Post tipster Graeme Rodway runs you through his best bets on the first half of the card.

1.50 Goodwood
Migdam @ 10/3
1pt win

3.00 Goodwood
New London @ 2/1
2pts win

3.35 Goodwood
One For Bobby @ 40/1
1pt each-way

Migdam can make your day

Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore teamed up to score with the improving Crystal Caprice at Goodwood on Tuesday and Migdam has a similar profile in the Kincsem Handicap (1.50). He is a lightly raced three-year-old who has more to offer for a trainer whose horses often improve.

Migdam has done just that in his career. He has recorded steadily progressive Racing Post Ratings of 57, 76, 86 and 99 and nothing has been able to get near him on his last three runs.

He has gone up 6lb for his latest impressive victory at Doncaster, but he couldn't have won any easier and was going away at the finish. The well-held third has come out and won since and there should be plenty more progress to come from Migdam on just his fifth career start.

Raise some capital on New London

The John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (3.00) looks like a hot race, but New London is held in high regard by Charlie Appleby and has looked really good on three of his four outings.

The son of Dubawi posted his only disappointing effort when beaten at 4/11 in the Chester Vase behind Changingoftheguard, but that track doesn't suit all horses and New London is a big, long-striding individual who probably found it tough going around those tight bends.

His other three victories at Newmarket have been faultless and he ran away with a competitive handicap at the July meeting last time when sent off a warm favourite.

He needs to improve on the bare form to beat Hoo Ya Mal, but that horse will be off to Australia after this and might have bigger fish to fry in time. New London is the now horse and there should be plenty more to come from this big, imposing and improving young colt.

One For Bobby could spring a surprise

Nashwa is a red-hot favourite for the Qatar Nassau Stakes (3.35), but she only just scraped home in the Prix de Diane at Chantilly last time and finished only third in the Oaks at Epsom.

Lilac Road and One For Bobby are the two who could upset the favourite and One For Bobby has to be the bet at a huge price. Her trainer Johnny Murtagh doesn't bring no-hopers to Britain and she has shown enough in four starts to suggest she could run a big race here.

One For Bobby won her first two starts at Gowran Park and bounced back from a below par run at Naas next time with an excellent running-on third in the 1m1f Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh. That race was run in a good time and nothing finished faster than the selection.

She needs to take another step forward to trouble Nashwa and Lilac Road, but this will be only her fifth career outing and Murtagh has booked the red-hot Frankie Dettori to ride. Dettori has been riding Goodwood like he has a point to prove this week and that's a plus.
