New Richmond co-captain Dylan Grimes looks set to miss the round one clash against Carlton after undergoing surgery to fix a thumb injury.
The Tigers missed out on finals last season but are desperate to return and are priced at 9/20 to finish in the eight in the 2022 AFL campaign.
The Tigers will be looking to get off to a good start against Carlton but will have to do it without Grimes following a badly-timed injury to his thumb.
The 30-year-old suffered the injury against Hawthorn in the AAMI Community Series clash against Hawthorn on Saturday, and has since undergone surgery.

Grimes has his wrist and thumb in a cast seven days out from the new season starting, so the chances of him facing the Blues does not look good. Although he remains ever the optimist.
"I had just a ligament attached after the game in Tassie. Really unlucky circumstances, I just got my thumb caught in another player's jumper, so I'll miss a couple of weeks," Grimes told AFL.com.au.
"I see the doctor today. Until this afternoon, I'm hopeful I'll play round one. I think it's on the shorter end of the recovery timeline. If it's not round one, I'm really hopeful it will be round two."
For the first time in their history, the Tigers have named co-captains, with Grimes set to work alongside ruckman Toby Nankervis after Trent Cotchin stepped aside.
"Over the years Trent has been such an amazing leader. It's hard not to take for granted what he brings each week and each month for the year," Grimes added. "I'm really honoured to be here, but also really thankful for what Trent has been able to give us for the last decade as a leader."
