Talented young reinsman Cameron Hart has an exciting book of drives at Menangle on Saturday night, including his partnership with Madrid in the NSW Oaks.
Hart, who has been in great form, picked up four winners at the same track last week and will be looking to repeat the achievement when he returns for a bumper 10-race card.
The first goal of the night will be to wrap up the NSW Oaks with Madrid, who has picked up seven wins from nine starts and will be looking to make it eight in the fillies' classic.
Madrid is sure to be in the mix at the finish line and Hart is confident after landing a nice barrier draw.
"It looks like I have a few nice chances, for sure," Hart said ahead of the meeting. "Madrid is a filly that could probably have crossed and led from anywhere. Now from gate four I won’t have to use her up too much.
"She’s always been a good high-speed filly and to run a 1:54 mile last-start was a pretty good effort. I expect her to be in front and if we’re good enough, then we’re good enough."
Hart will then turn his attention to the NSW Derby heats where he will take the drives of My Ultimate Billy (Race 8), My Ultimate Byron (Race 9) and My Ultimate Baxter (Race 10) for the Jarrod Alchin stable.
Again Hart is full of confidence ahead of the heats and believes all three have what it takes to get the job done.
"If there’s some pace on, he’ll run home well," he said of My Ultimate Billy. "My Ultimate Byron felt good on the line even though he was beaten last-start and I think it might have been driver error rather than the horse’s fault.
"My Ultimate Baxter did disappoint a little last-start. But he’s fast and he’s also strong. He’s a good little horse, he’s versatile and is probably my best chance.
"Byron probably has the most ability of them all so I just hope he’s on his best behaviour tonight."
