Wests Tigers playmaker Jackson Hastings says coach Michael Maguire loves the club and it was important the players repaid the faith that he has shown in them during a troubled start to the season.
The Tigers are priced at 18/1 to finish in the top eight of the NRL and before they beat Parramatta on Easter Monday they had lost the opening five games of the season.
The pressure had been mounting on Maguire as those outside of the club felt it was time for a change at the top. Even the fans were starting to turn.
But Hastings, who had been suspended for three weeks and sat in the coach’s box during that time, has backed him and says no-one cares more about the club than Maguire.

"Sitting in the box with Madge (the last few weeks), he's pure emotion,” Hastings said. "He just cares so much about the club.
"That's what people don't see because everyone gets caught up in the results which is fair enough because it's a results-driven business. But the work that he actually does to prepare us and to get us ready to play every week it's truly phenomenal.”
Hastings says the time and effort Maguire puts in needed to be rewarded and they were delighted to repay the faith against the
Eels.
"I've been coached by some very good coaches but the hours and time and dedication he actually puts into us players we've actually got to go out there and repay him,” Hastings added. "I know it's only one win but I feel really good for Madge, that's that's massive for us as a club."
