Manly Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler has fitness concerns over Haumole Olakau'atu after he suffered an elbow injury in the 18-16 trial loss to the Canberra Raiders.
The Sea Eagles are priced at 4/5 to finish in the top four of the NRL this season but Hasler has injury concerns before the new campaign has even got underway.
Martin Taupau, Dylan Walker and Olakau'atu all picked up injuries and had to leave the field and Hasler is now facing an anxious wait to discover the full extent of the damage.
The injuries to Taupau and Walker do not appear to be that serious, but the same cannot be said of Olakau'atu who suffered a partial dislocation of his right elbow.
Sea Eagles ace fired up for 2022
"The main one is Haumole, it's just his elbow which he subluxed," Hasler told reporters after the game. "Walks will be okay and Marty is just a strained back and we took him off for precaution but he could have come back on.
"Round one for them, Haumole is the biggest problem."
The Sea Eagles are already without second-rower Josh Schuster for the opening six rounds of the season so Hasler will be praying the injury to Olakau'atu will not keep him out for long.
Manly appeared to be on the way to victory in the pre-season trial after Raiders star Jack Wighton made two mistakes to gift them tries.
Jason Saab intercepted his pass to race 90 metres to score the first one, before Tolu Koula then showed his extreme pace with a 95 metre dash for the second.
But Wighton made amends with a try on half-time before the Nick Cotric and Joe Tapine completed the fight back after the break.
