General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff has insisted the Winnipeg Jets are focussed on making the Stanley Cup playoffs, not the NHL trade deadline on 21st March.
The Jets, 70/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, are four points behind the Vegas Golden Knights for the second Wild Card spot to qualify for the Stanley Cup playoffs from the Western Conference.
And, despite decisions to be made on forwards Paul Stastny and Andrew Copp who are set to become unrestricted free agents, and centre Pierre-Luc Dubois who will be a restricted free agent at the end of the season, Cheveldayoff says the battle for their playoffs lives takes precedent.
The Jets most recently beat the St. Louis Blues 4-3 in overtime on Sunday with Dubois scoring the game-winning goal in the extra period taking their season record to 27-23-10.

52-year-old Cheveldayoff has been the GM of the Jets since 2011 and has guided them to the playoffs in each of the past four seasons.
In 2014, he hired Paul Maurice as coach and the pair worked together up until 17th December of this season when the 55-year-old stunningly handed in his resignation saying the team needed a new voice.
Assistant Dave Lowry was promoted to the interim position and will lead the Jets until at least the end of season as they chase an opportunity at the Stanley Cup.
Cheveldayoff said to the media: "I've talked to all the respective agents and right now we're focusing on trying to get above the playoff line. Not really looking at anything other than that at the moment."
