Newcastle Jets have been boosted by the news Matt Jurman has recovered from an ankle injury and is expected to take his place in the side that faces Melbourne City.
The Jets are priced at 6/4 to finish in the top six of the A-League and play finals football and currently sit in ninth place on the ladder.
The Jets do have two games in hand on most of the teams around them and if they can make them count they will be well in the mix to play finals come the end of the season.
And the good news heading into the big game against City on Friday night is the return of Jurman who missed the win over Melbourne Victory after picking up an ankle injury.
"He's pulled up well," boss Arthur Papas told reporters ahead of the game. "He was a possibility against Victory but we'll make a decision late on because we know the following week there are another two games. We've got everyone available which is really pleasing."
Another player crucial to Newcastle's chances of climbing the ladder is new striker Beka Mikeltadze who continues to shine since arriving at the club in the off-season.
He now has seven goals in eight games and Papas is convinced the former Rubin Kazan player has what it takes to go right to the top again.
"He's got a very complete style of play and he works hard for the team and understands how hard we need to work without the ball," Papas added. "He sacrifices himself at times if we get caught out.
"But he's also clinical when he gets his chances. He's got a lot to improve on but it's been a good start and I want to see it continue."
