Newcastle Knights have confirmed the double signing of Adam Elliott and Jack Hetherington from the start of the 2023 NRL campaign.
The Knights are priced at 10/1 to finish in the top eight of the NRL in 2022 but they also have an eye on the future and are delighted to get the two forwards on board.
Both players have penned three-year deals and will arrive once they have finished the season with their current clubs.
Elliott has impressed with the Canberra Raiders this season after arriving from Canterbury, while Hetherington is on the books of the Bulldogs.
Elliott is 27 and has played in 113 NRL games since making his debut in 2016. Hetherington has also played for Penrith and the Warriors during his 43-game NRL career.
Newcastle are delighted to get the double deal wrapped up and are in no doubt both players have a huge role to play in Adam O’Brien’s future plans.
“Both players will be a welcome addition to our club next season," Knights GM of Football Danny Buderus told the club’s website. “They bring versality, leg speed and strong physical presence to our pack, which are key attributes and skillsets for the modern game.
“They share a hard-working attitude and a will to win, they both compete on every moment and that’s a great fit for the Newcastle Knights."
Newcastle currently sit in 12th spot on the NRL ladder having won just four out of their opening 12 games.
