Los Angeles Lakers have confirmed Anthony Davis faces at least four weeks on the sidelines after suffering a right ankle sprain.
The Lakers are 22/1 to win the NBA Championship outright, but they will have to cope without one of their stars for the next month.
Davis suffered the injury during Wednesday's comeback victory over Utah Jazz. The center jumped to catch a pass in the second quarter, landed awkwardly and did not feature in the second half.
Initially it was reported that Davis was set to miss around two weeks. As the All-Star games takes place this weekend, the 28-year-old would only have missed three or four games but further scans have revealed the injury is more serious than it first appeared.
The Lakers have confirmed Davis will be re-evaluated in four weeks and as such he will have to sit out at least 12 of their remaining 24 regular-season games.

Davis played a key role in the LA outfit's championship success in 2020 and the Lakers were expected to be serious contenders this year after adding Russell Westbrook to their roster during the off-season, but as it stands they face a battle to secure a place in the play-offs.
The Lakers sit in ninth place in the Western Conference with a 31-27 overall record.
They are four-and-a-half games ahead of San Antonio Spurs and New Orleans Pelicans in 11th and 12th respectively - but face both of those teams during the time period Davis is expected to miss.
Denver Nuggets, who occupy the final automatic play-off spot in the Western Conference, are six games ahead of the Lakers and it appears as if they will have to come through the play-in tournament if they are to reach the play-offs this term.
