Adam Le Fondre was back to his best when firing home a hat-trick that helped Sydney FC to a 5-0 victory over the Central Coast Mariners.
Sydney are out to finish in the top six and were badly in need of a result following a 4-0 defeat against Melbourne City in midweek.
English strike ace Le Fondre was the hero for the Sky Blues with an impressive hat-trick. Le Fondre has had his issues on the injury front this season but there were no signs of issues as he fired his side to victory.
Le Fondre opened the scoring on 28 minutes and completed the hat-trick with further strikes in the 58th and 59th minutes. Anthony Caceres and Bobo completed the rout.
Speaking after the game Sydney boss Steve Corica saluted Le Fondre and said it is just what both he and the Sky Blues needed.
"It was very important for us," Corica said. "That's what we've been missing, isn't it? Goals. It's good for his confidence. I'm very proud of them all tonight with a clean sheet."
Meanwhile in the opposite camp Mariners boss Nick Montgomery said they had excuses for the performances but he was not willing to reveal them. Instead he praised Sydney for the three points.
"We just didn't start tonight, we had seven or eight off the pace," said Montgomery. "I could give you some excuses but I'm not going to. We weren't good enough and they were better than us."
