Esports: LEC Summer Saturday matches

Week five in the LEC Summer Split got under way on Friday with most games going as expected as Rogue, MAD Lions and G2 Esports all chalked up wins.

The next batch of matches take place on Saturday with Misfits Gaming and Team Vitality expected to be tough to separate and Rogue on course for yet another win.

Team BDS out of their depth

Any very faint hopes strugglers Team BDS had of making the LEC Summer playoffs were dashed in their week five opener as they fell to a comprehensive defeat to SK Gaming.

Team BDS trailed in gold by just under 14k, lost the kill count 14-3 and lost the tower count 10-1 and look pretty hopeless at the foot of the division with nine defeats from ten matches.

Upcoming opponents Astralis also lost their first match of week five, although that was at least against a strong G2 Esports side and they look about right at -175 in this one.

Given how quickly BDS folded against SK Gaming and the fact they have little left to play for, the better betting approach could be to back Astralis to make a fast start and record the First Blood at -125.

MAD Lions can assert their superiority

SK Gaming gave themselves an outside chance of landing an LEC Summer playoff berth with that win over Team BDS on Friday, but they could be given a reality check by MAD Lions in their second game of week five.

MAD Lions took their win-loss record to 7-3 in the LEC Summer with a solid victory over Team Vitality last time out and they have extended their winning streak to three matches.

Once MAD Lions had taken the baron in the clash with Vitality, they looked unstoppable and they are worth considering at -250 to be the first team to slay Baron, while the -275 for them to win the contest also looks an adequate selection.

Misfits and Vitality can push one another

Misfits Gaming went into their recent contest with Excel Esports with a genuine shot at glory, having won five straight matches in the LEC Summer - with that streak including wins over MAD Lions, G2 Esports and Fnatic.

And although they held their nerve in the early game, Excel took the initiative in mid-game and eventually prevailed, leaving Misfits in the mid-table positions with a 5-5 record.

Next up for them are a Team Vitality side with an identical win-loss record and who lost to MAD Lions last time out. This could be a tight one and may go the distance, so take a chance on over 27.5 Map 1 kills at +100.

Rogue can see off inconsistent G2 Esports

It was a topsy-turvy encounter, but despite their opponents securing first blood, Rogue came out on top against Fnatic in their opening match of week five, keeping them top of the LEC Summer standings.

Having started the Split with successive defeats in week one, Rogue have responded emphatically with an eight-match winning sequence and look unstoppable right now.

This has been billed as one of the games of the week, but even though they edged Astralis last time out, G2 Esports have looked a fair way off the team they were when they won the LEC Spring and are worth opposing.

They lost to both SK Gaming and Misfits Gaming in week four, taking their tally of defeats in the Split to five, meaning Rogue look a decent bet at -150 to win this one.
