Harness Racing: Lee salutes Im Ready Jet

Reinsman Jason Lee paid tribute to Im Ready Jet after she wrapped up the Kerryn Manning Trotting Mares Triple Crown at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Saturday night.

Heading into the final race of the series Aldebaran Crescent was leading the way but Im Ready Jet turned the tables to win by a point.

Im Ready Jet shines

Im Ready Jet, who is trained by Anton Golino, won the Sumthingaboutmaori Trotters Free For All, beating Aldebaran Crescent by five metres.

The five-year-old made her move before the turn for home and blew away her rivals in a mile rate of 1:59.1 seconds.

Speaking after the win Lee had nothing but praise for his charge and believes there is even more to come.

Lee impressed

“She's something else,” Lee said after the win. “She still did that in second gear up the straight, she sort of needed something to race her.

“I was pretty confident a long way out, just with how well she was travelling and Kate (Gath) had done a little bit of work (with Vacation Hill). She wasn't walking in front, she was bowling at a good enough click. We ran a bit of time.”

Im Ready Jets now has five Group 1 wins to her name and has wracked up over $400,000 in prize money.
