Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire says he was proud of his players despite them slipping to a late 8-6 defeat against the Titans on Thursday night.
The Tigers did have hopes of finishing in the top eight of the NRL but they have yet to win in the four games they have played this season.
The Tigers did look on course for victory as they were leading 6-2 heading into the final minute of the game before the home side struck a cruel blow.
A scrappy try by AJ Brimson was enough to get the Titans home and Maguire said the manner of the defeat was hard to take.

Even so he was proud of the way his side played and felt they deserved more.
"It can be a cruel game," Maguire told reporters after the game. "I'm actually really proud of the players, how they continually stay at it and work.
"They're very rock solid. There's a lot of hurt in the change room at the moment. Seventy-nine minutes, whatever it was, and we had it there, but it's a tough one."
The Gold Coast are now 2-2 for the season and coach Justin Holbrook was just happy to get the win after a disruptive week leading into the game.
"They just got on with it and at no stage did the players care about the week's preparation," Holbrook said. "We were that confident and prepared to play tonight.
"Obviously, a scrappy game all round, but you can only play to the conditions and we come up with a win, that's the main thing."
