Toronto Maple Leafs hot-shot Auston Matthews scored a 50th goal for the first time in his NHL career before declaring the job is not done yet.
The Leafs, 10/1 to win the Stanley Cup, beat the Winnipeg Jets 7-3 on Thursday, with Matthews scoring into the empty net to reach the impressive figure.
Over six seasons in the NHL, the 24-year-old has totalled 249 goals in 396 regular season games.
The closest he had come to 50 before was in 2019/20 when he hit 47 in 70 regular season games. In total he has 438 points, which includes 189 assists.
The first-overall draft pick in 2016 currently leads the NHL for goals for a second season running.
Matthews reached 50 goals in 62 games, the fewest a player has managed to reach the number in 26 years. He also has 37 assists for a total of 87 points, which ranks fifth in the NHL.

He also became the fourth Maple Leaf in history to score 50 goals in a season, joining Rick Vaive, Gary Leeman and Dave Andreychuk.
Vaive holds the Toronto record with 54 back in 1981/82.
The Leafs (43-19-5) sit second in the Atlantic Division and Matthews looks set to try and help the franchise break their play-off hoodoo of not winning a round that dates back to 2004.
Matthews said the media: "I just try to stay present, try to do my thing, and maybe when I'm done playing I can think about (my legacy).
"Right now, obviously, I have a job to do and it's not finished yet."
