Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield says he has "no clue what happens next" amid reports that Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is discussing a potential trade with the Browns.
Cleveland, a 3/1 shot to win the AFC North next year, would appear to be exploring their options at quarterback after a disappointing 2021 season marred by Mayfield's struggles. You can follow next season via our Sports Live Streaming platform.
In a turbulent campaign, during which Odell Beckham Jr forced his way out of Cleveland amid allegations by his father that Mayfield wouldn't throw him the ball, the 26-year-old battled with a shoulder injury.
The Browns won only six of the 14 games he started and posted a losing record, but their reported pursuit of Watson should come as no surprise given the team's lukewarm approach to their QB's contract situation.

Last spring, the Browns exercised Mayfield's fifth-year contract option for the 2022 season, buying more time to decide if they should tie him down to a long-term deal.
It now seems that any new contract talks have been shelved in favour of finding a new franchise quarterback to replace their former first overall pick from the 2018 draft.
Mayfield released a statement on the back of the Watson news to thank the city of Cleveland.
He wrote: "I have no clue what happens next, which is the meaning behind the silence I have had during the duration of this process."
Watson requested a trade from the Texans in January 2021 and was expected to meet with the Browns on Tuesday, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.
To Watson, who holds a no-trade clause and will have the final say of where he ends up, the lure of Cleveland is likely to come from their playoff-ready roster that looks stronger than any of the other teams leading the chase for his services.
