NBA - US Sports: Memphis force Game 6 by thrashing Dubs

Memphis Grizzlies dismantled Golden State Warriors 134-95 on Wednesday to force Game 6 of their best-of-seven series.

The Grizzlies can be backed at 9/1 to win the series, while Golden State are 11/5 to go all the way and win the NBA Championship outright.

Memphis were 3-1 behind and knew a defeat would see their season come to an end. The Grizzlies were also dealt a huge blow ahead of the fifth meeting as star guard Ja Morant seems set to miss the rest of the play-offs.

However, they managed to pull out their best post-season performance to date with a dominant win over the Dubs despite the absence of their talisman.

Grizzlies dominant in Dubs success

Memphis were never behind in Game 5 and led by as much as 55 points.

The Grizzlies scored a franchise-record 77 points in the first half and held a 52-point lead going into the fourth quarter that equalled the record for the largest deficit in a play-off game in the past 70 years.

Grizzlies trio Desmond Bane, Tyus Jones, and Jaren Jackson Jr. led the game in scoring as they managed 21 points each, and Jackson was delighted with the team's performance.

"We knew what was at stake," Jackson told ESPN. "We didn't change anything, though. We just calmed down, looked at the film, understood what we had to take away from the last game and just went out there and executed."

Memphis still face a huge task if they are to reach the Western Conference finals as they must win the remaining two games of the series to progress.

Warriors formidable at home

Game 6 takes place in San Francisco on Friday and the Dubs have won all five of their home games in the play-offs this season.

Golden State also finished the regular season with a 31-10 home record, the second best in the league.
