NBA - US Sports: Miami's Martin preparing for play-offs

Miami Heat forward Caleb Martin feels the remaining games of the regular season will give his team a chance to experiment ahead of the play-offs.

Miami are 10/1 to win the NBA Championship outright, while Eastern Conference rivals Philadelphia 76ers can be backed at 13/2 - with the Heat leading the way in the East with a 44-23 overall record, with just 15 games remaining.

Miami are yet to guarantee a play-off place, but they hold an eight-game lead over Toronto Raptors in seventh and have what looks like a fairly straightforward run-in as they gear up for their post-season campaign.

Miami are in action on Friday as they entertain Cleveland Cavaliers, and Martin believes their final 15 regular season games will give them a chance to do some experimenting and fine-tuning before the play-offs.

"It's going to be an important time and a big time for us to experiment and kind of just get to play with match-ups and play with rotations and stuff like that," said Martin, via the Miami Herald.

"Really just get acclimated with each other and rebuild that chemistry again. Just add certain guys and get guys up to speed. Right now is the time to make sure we tweak and get ourselves polished up for the next couple weeks."

Miami have a few injury concerns ahead of the visit of the Cavs and star man Jimmy Butler will miss out due to illness, with long-term injury victim Markieff Morris also unavailable.

Victor Oladipo should be in line for more game time after logging around 30 minutes in total across the Heat's last two games after returning from a lengthy lay-off.
