NFL: Murray confounds Cardinals with social media scrub

Kyler Murray has thrown doubt on his long-term Arizona Cardinals future by scrubbing any references to the team from all his social media accounts.

The third-year quarterback had an up and down year for the Cardinals, who are 25/1 to win next year's Super Bowl, as a late-season slump saw them lose four of their last five regular season games and suffer a bad blowout defeat to the Los Angeles Rams on Super Wild Card weekend.

QB future in doubt

Murray was all smiles in front of the media at last week's Pro Bowl, in which he threw for 160 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in the NFC's loss.

But he drew attention to himself by then unfollowing the Cardinals on all social media, including Twitter, and removing all photos associated with the team on his Instagram account.

The former first overall draft pick is now eligible for a lucrative contract extension, although some reports suggest the Cardinals want to see if he can earn them a playoff win before committing themselves further.

Murray sees room for improvement

His compensation for next season is $11.4million, a figure that doesn't match up to the level of play he has produced in a league where the 10 highest paid quarterbacks all earn more than $30million annually.

In what was likely to be his last media availability for some months last weekend, Murray spoke about what needed to happen next season for Arizona to fix the issues that dogged them during the stretch run this past season.

"I wouldn't get into too much detail, but just get better," he told azcardinals.com on Saturday. "I think there are a lot of things we all need to address individually.

"Team-wise we understand kind of what happened, how we get there. We've got to do it together. Obviously, everyone has to work hard individually. When we come together we've got to be ready to go, because it doesn't get any easier."
