Aussie Rules: Noble blasts unacceptable defeat

North Melbourne coach David Noble labelled the drubbing dished out by the Brisbane Lions as unacceptable and says the whole club need to go away and look at themselves.

North Melbourne are in a rebuild but the manner of the defeat against the Lions has set alarm bells ringing.

Bad day for Kangaroos

The Kangaroos had a shocker at the Gabba as Brisbane ran out 156-48 winners, kicking nine goals in the final quarter alone.

Not only that the VFL side were also thumped by the Lions reserves earlier in the day and Noble says a huge inquest now needs to take place.

"Our club's been beaten by 200 points ... the state league game was exactly the same," Noble said. "We've got to go back and have a bloody good look at ourselves. That's the bottom line."Coaches, players alike, staff. It's not acceptable."

Signs of improvement

The Kangaroos were showing signs of improvement in the second half of last year when picking up three wins but the loss on
Saturday was a reminder of what they need to do.

And Noble has promised his players a tough week on the training pitch ahead of the clash with Sydney at the SCG.

"We know how to work our way out of this, we've done it before," he added. "We didn't think we'd have to go there again but we know what we need to do.

"We've got to increase our rate at training, we've got to increase our accountability.”
