Netminder Jake Oettinger made 25 saves to help the Dallas Stars beat the Boston Bruins 6-1 before saying he wants to prove that he can be counted on in big games against the NHL's best.
The Stars, 40/1 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, have won five of their past six games, taking their season record to 23-17-2 which ranks fifth in the Central Division.
11 of Dallas' victories have been recorded by 23-year-old Oettinger who has a .913 save-percentage and 2.43 goals-against-average (GAA) in 15 starts (17 total appearances). In each of his last two starts, Oettinger has allowed just one goal.
The 6'5" American was drafted by the Stars in the first-round (26th overall) of the 2017 NHL draft.
Since he has played 46 times in the regular season (39 starts) registering 22 wins, a .912 save-percentage and 2.38 (GAA).
Oettinger has been partnered by 32-year-old Braden Holtby this season.

The former Stanley Cup winner the Washington Capitals in 2018 has played 22 times (20 starts) collecting nine victories, and a matching .913 save-percentage and slightly higher 2.76 GAA.
Oettinger said after the Bruins victory: "They've been one of the best teams in the league for the last 10 years.
"It's always a good challenge, and I just want to show that I can be counted on in big games against those top teams."
