Defenceman Tyson Barrie says the Edmonton Oilers are excited to compete for the Stanley Cup in the NHL playoffs, which begin on Monday.
The Oilers, who are 18/1 to win the Stanley Cup, will meet the Los Angeles Kings in the best-of-seven first-round and enjoy home ice advantage following an impressive conclusion to the regular season.
In their last eight games, Edmonton won seven and scored four or more in six to finish second in the Atlantic Division with a 49-27-6 overall record.
The Oilers fired former coach Dave Tippett on 10th February when their place in the playoffs was under great threat.
He was replaced by Jay Tippett who led them to a 26-9-3 record, a .724 winning percentage which trails only the Presidents' Trophy winners, Florida Panthers (.757) as the best in the league since he took over.

Barrie scored in a 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks to wrap-up the Oilers' regular season on Friday, taking his tally to 41 points (seven goals, 34 assists) in 73 games.
The offensive blue-liner is in a second season with the Oilers and 11th in the NHL.
He said to the media: "The way we have been playing over the last little while, even the last two-and-a-half months, it is all building towards what we are going to be stepping into [playoffs] on Monday.
"I think we are in a good position, we are a confident group and we know what is expected of us and what our systems are. We are just ready and excited to execute it. Good teams find a way to win, I think that rings really true."
