NHL: Panthers confident in scoring ability

Forward Jonathan Huberdeau says the Florida Panthers have confidence in their ability to score goals after they hit three in a row to come from behind to beat the San Jose Sharks 5-4 in overtime on Saturday.

The Panthers, 23/4 to win the Stanley Cup in 2021/22, found themselves 2-0, 3-1 and 4-2 down against the Sharks before the triple came to turn the game on its head.

28-year-old Huberdeau scored once and had two assists, including the helper on Sam Bennett's game-winner to take his NHL leading points total to 62 (17 goals, 45 assists).

For the Panthers, the win as their ninth home victory in a row and 23rd from 26 games at FLA Live Arena this season.

Their 31-9-5 record and 67 points from 45 games puts them top of the Atlantic Divison and the NHL overall standings.

Florida flying high

Florida also lead the league in goals scored (184) and goal-differential (+54).

Huberdeau has spent his entire 10-year NHL career with the Panthers after being drafted in the first-round (third-overall) of the 2011 draft.

Named an NHL All-Star for the second time, Huberdeau has registered more points than any other player in Flordia's history (560: 185 goals, 375 assists).

He said to the media: "We have belief in ourselves. We know we can do it. Obviously, you don't want to fall behind. We knew we're going to score some goals. That's just our belief in the locker room."
