Brisbane Roar coach Warren Moon saluted his patched-up side after they rallied together to inflict a humiliating 3-0 defeat on Western Sydney Wanderers.
Roar are priced at 3/1 to finish in the top six of the A-League and after a disappointing start to the season have picked up two wins out of the last three games to give themselves a boost.
Heading into the game Moon was lacking a host of players through illness and injury and was forced to play midfielders Jay O'Shea and Rahmat Akbari as a makeshift strike pairing.
Akbari responded by getting his name on the scoresheet while Nikola Mileusnic chipped in with a brace to help Roar jump up to eighth on the A-League ladder.
Roar went in front in the 27th minute when Henry Hore combined with O'Shea to set up Mileusnic who fired into the far corner for his first goal of the night.
Mileusnic got his second in the 65th minute thanks to a cool finish after good work from Corey Brown, before Akbari made it 3-0 in the 74th minute.
Wanderers were poor but Moon was more focused on his own side and felt they deserved plenty of praise for the way they pulled together to get the win.
"Tonight was about a collective team performance," Moon told reporters after the game. "Sharp, aggressive, compact, resolute, and when we had the ball we used it really well. We could've scored more."
Roar will now look to keep the good run going by beating the Newcastle Jets on Thursday night.
