Kalyn Ponga believes he can win a premiership with the Newcastle Knights and will turn down any approach from the Dolphins, according to the player's father.
The Knights are priced at 22/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and the star fullback is key to their chances of having success in the years to come.
The Dolphins, who will join the NRL in the 2023 and will be coached by Wayne Bennett, have made Ponga one of their top targets but look to be fighting a losing battle.
Ponga is under contract until the end of the 2024 NRL season but has a two-year option in his favour and could effectively walk out at the end of the season to join the Dolphins.

However according to his father Andre Ponga that is unlikely to happen as he is keen to win a premiership the Knights, a club he holds close to his heart.
"The main reason to stay in Newcastle is to win a premiership. Obviously, it’s a team sport and everything has to align, but Kalyn believes he can win a premiership at the Knights," Andre Ponga said. "We’re in no rush (with his contract). We don’t have to make a call by July.
"If you look too far ahead in this game, the ‘now’ part doesn’t happen. Kalyn is chasing that premiership. He wants success for Newcastle."
Meanwhile Andre Ponga also revealed the addition of club legend Andrews Johns to the club's coaching ranks is another big reason why his son wants to stay.
"Kalyn has to weigh up whether he could win a premiership with a new club like the Dolphins. They have signed a few experienced players like the Bromwich boys and Felise Kaufusi," he added.
"But when you have a mentor like Andrew Johns, how do you walk away from that?"
