The Newcastle Knights have confirmed Kalyn Ponga and Jayden Brailey will work together as captains in the 2022 NRL campaign.
The Knights are priced at 28/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final and will be hoping the leadership qualities of both players can help the team have a successful season.
Star fullback Ponga has been named as Team Captain and will lead the Knights on the field, while Brailey will take the role of Club Captain for the season ahead.
Ponga has played 74 matches for Newcastle since arriving at the club in 2018 and head coach Adam O'Brien is in no doubt the 23-year-old is the correct fit for the role.

"Kalyn has always been an influential part of our Club," O’Brien told the Newcastle website. "From day one in this pre-season, Kalyn has led with his actions both on and off the field.
"He is unique in that he possesses both a sense of calm and a fierce will to compete and to win. This is a huge honour and we all agree the time is right for Kalyn to be appointed as Captain of the Newcastle Knights."
Brailey is currently battling back from an Achilles injury but he showed his quality when starting 23 matches at hooker in 2021 and O'Brien cannot wait to have him back available.
"Jayden plays a huge role for the Knights, not just on game day or just in the NRL," O’Brien added. "Anyone who knows Brails understands his character and the respect he has earnt amongst his team mates, in the community and across the NRL.
"When he returns to the field, he will join Kalyn for on-field responsibilities, playing a similar role to what Billy Peden did for Andrew Johns throughout their careers.
"He relates to everyone, and is the perfect person to represent the Club."
